THIS WEEKEND
Dartmouth men's soccer will host its third consecutive game on Tuesday, taking on non-conference foe Vermont at 7 p.m. on Burnham Field.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green scored an early goal and held on despite playing down a man for the final 65 minutes of action in a 1-0 victory over Princeton on Saturday. Amadu Kunateh netted the lone goal of the game in the 10th minute, but was issued a red card in the 26th, forcing Dartmouth to play with 10 players for the majority of the game. Kunateh's second goal of the season was the result of a great centering feed from Eduvie Ikoba near the end line and booted home the first marker of the game.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont arrives in town with a 5-4-1 mark. Most recently, the Catamounts suffered a 2-1 loss to Binghamton after the Bearcats scored twice in the first half and held off a late rally by Vermont in the America East opener for both teams. Brian Wright leads the squad with six goals and a pair of assists for 14 points while, in net, Greg Walton has a save percentage of .681 and a goals against average of 1.49 while sporting a 5-4-1 record.
AGAINST VERMONT
On Oct. 1, 2014, Wyatt Omsberg scored the game-winning game in the 105th minute to give the Big Green a 2-1 (2OT) win over the Catamounts on the road. Midway through the second overtime period, Dartmouth put pressure on the Vermont defense, which forced a corner kick with 5:39 remaining in the contest. Robin Alnas' volley found the head of Jonathan Nierenberg, who shuttled the ball over to Omsberg for the game-winner to the back post.
IVY LEAGUE HONORS
For the second week in a row, Stefan Cleveland was named the Ivy League Player of the Week. In the 1-0 victory over Princeton on Saturday, he earned his second straight shutout and his fourth of the season, turning aside five shots in the win and holding off a Princeton team that was constantly pressuring with the extra man after Dartmouth drew a red card in the 26th minute.
CLEAN SHEETS
Dartmouth has held opponents scoreless five times already this season, more than any other team in the Ivy League. Columbia has three in its 4-2-1 start, all by Kyle Jackson who is currently second in the league behind Cleveland. In addition to Cleveland's four shutouts, James Hickok has one to give the Green five in their first eight outings.
