THIS WEEKEND
For the second weekend in a row, the Dartmouth volleyball team will play at home, welcoming Yale and Brown to town for 5 p.m. matches on both Friday and Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green went 1-1 last weekend in Ivy League play, falling to Penn, 3-0 (18-25, 17-25, 12-25), on Friday night before rebounding to defeat Princeton, 3-1 (20-25, 27-25, 25-14, 25-17), the following afternoon, fighting back from a dropped first set to win the remaining three. Against the Tigers, Paige Caridi had a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs, while Emily Astarita led both programs with 13 kills. Zoe Leonard had 15 digs to lead Dartmouth and Stacey Benton had 37 assists.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
After just two weekends of conference action, Yale has already pulled ahead of the rest and is the only Ancient Eight program to remain undefeated in league play following 3-1 defeats of Brown and Columbia and a close 3-2 win over Cornell. The Bulldogs are currently riding a four-match winning streak and have not dropped a match since a 3-1 loss to North Dakota State on Sept. 19.
LAST SEASON AGAINST YALE
In 2014, the Big Green went 0-2 against the Bulldogs, falling by scores of 3-0 both at home on Oct. 4 (21-25, 18-25, 16-25) and on the road on Halloween (17-25, 17-25, 19-25).
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown is one of the three teams that Dartmouth is tied for second with in the Ivy League standings, having picked up two wins and just one loss so far in the conference season. On Sept. 25, the Bears were able to win a set, but ultimately fell to the Bulldogs, 3-1, to open Ivy play. The following weekend, they had a 3-0 defeat of Cornell and a 3-2 win over Columbia at home.
LAST SEASON AGAINST BROWN
Dartmouth went 1-1 against the Bears in 2014, defeating the opponent, 3-2, in a huge come-from-behind victory (25-17, 23-25, 20-25, 26-24, 15-12) at home on Oct. 3, but dropped a 3-1 decision (19-25, 23-25, 25-21, 21-25) on Brown territory Nov. 1.
IVY LEAGUE STATISTICS
A handful of Big Green players are currently faring well in the conference in a number of categories: Astarita is first in kills (183) and kills per set (4.02), Kayden Cook is third in assists (279) and Benton is right behind in fourth (216). Dartmouth also leads all programs with 571 assists so far this season.
