FRIDAY'S GAME
Following its loss at home to Granite State rival New Hampshire, the Dartmouth women's basketball team will look to record its first victory of the season when the Big Green take on McNeese State in the second round of the preseason WNIT Tournament. The second round of the tournament is hosted by the University of Texas at Arlington.
LAST TIME OUT
On Monday, Dartmouth fell 61-57 to the Wildcats in its home opener at Leede Arena. After outscoring UNH for three quarters, the Big Green could not hang on to the lead in the fourth. Dartmouth jumped out to an early lead to begin the game, eventually unleashing an 8-0 in the second to take a 36-31 advantage at the half. The Wildcats clawed their way back toward the end of game and took the lead with just 37 seconds left to play. Senior Lakin Roland has a chance to tie the game, but Roland's three-point try fell short with 11 seconds remaining.
SCOUTING MCNEESE STATE
The Cowgirls are coming off a 68-53 loss to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in the opening round of the preseason WNIT. McNeese State was slated to finish fourth in the 13 member Southland Conference. The Cowgirls offense is led by their leading scorer, junior Amber Donnes. In her first game of the season, Donnes scored 16 points and grabbed three rebounds in the loss to the Mocs.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE COWGIRLS
This will be the first meeting between the Big Green and McNeese State in the team's history.
OFF THE BENCH
Dartmouth has seen a huge contribution from bench players in the early going this season. In the season opener against Drexel, the Big Green's bench recorded 23 points versus the Dragons 15. In Monday's contest versus UNH, Dartmouth outscored the Wildcats bench 12-4.
LEADING THE PACK
Roland leads the Big Green offense averaging 13 points and seven rebounds a game in her final year in Hanover. Last year, she was second on the team averaging 12 points and eight boards a game. Kate Letkewicz is currently third in the Ivy League in defensive rebounds a game with seven.
FRESH FACES
Four new players join Dartmouth this season: guard Cy Lippold, guard Kealy Brown, forward Isalys Quinones and forward Emily Dryden.
