HANOVER, N.H. — The College Football Performance Awards announced its
Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Defensive Awards Watch List this week, and three members of the Dartmouth Big Green were recognized — free safety
David Caldwell, and linebackers
Will McNamara and
Folarin Orimolade.
The list includes 32 defensive backs, 32 linebackers and 34 defensive linemen from the FCS, but all FCS players remain eligible for the award throughout the season. The award winners will be announced on Jan. 13, 2016.
Caldwell, a senior from Charlotte, North Carolina, is among the nation's leaders in turnovers recovered with four interceptions (ninth on a per-game basis) and three fumbles recovered (second). He is third on the team with 36 tackles and leads the league with nine passes defended as well.
A senior from Chicago, Illinois, McNamara is fourth in the nation in interceptions per game after collecting two against 15th-ranked Harvard last Friday. The Big Green tri-captain leads the squad with 46 tackles (7.7 per game ranks third in the Ivy League) and is tied for fifth in the conference with six passes defended.
Orimolade has been a terror for opposing quarterbacks with seven sacks this season, which leads the Ancient Eight and is tied for sixth in the FCS on a per-game basis. The junior out of Burtonsville, Maryland, also paces the league with nine tackles for a loss out of his 28 stops on the season, and has forced three fumbles, which ranks fourth in the nation on a per-game basis.
The 24th-ranked Big Green (6-1, 3-1 Ivy) return to the gridiron this evening when they host Cornell (0-7, 0-4 Ivy) in a game televised by NBC Sports Network and broadcast on the radio locally by 99Rock with Adam Giardino and Wayne Young '72 calling the action. Fans can also watch online through NBC LiveExtra and listen online through the Ivy League Digital Network. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
