Dartmouth Big Green (2-8, 0-0 Ivy) vs.
Louisville Cardinals (4-5, 0-0 ACC)
Date: Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015 – 7 p.m.
Location: KFC YUM! Center, Louisville, Ky.
TUESDAY'S GAME
After holding off Hartford on the road for its second win of the season, the Dartmouth women's basketball team will play perennial Final Four contender, Louisville.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green were able to thwart a late game comeback by the Hawks last Saturday en-route to a 43-36, victory. Dartmouth's two seniors led the offense as Daisy Jordan scored a team-high 14 points while Lakin Roland added 12 points and led her squad with nine rebounds. The first half got off to a slow start for both teams, until the end of the second quarter when the Big Green took a 22-20 lead. Dartmouth added to its lead in the third after going on a 9-0 run, but Hartford would not go away quietly. The Hawks cut the lead to just four points, but key free throws in the contest's closing minutes preserved the victory for the Big Green.
SCOUTING THE CARDS
After being ranked eight in the nation in the first AP Top 25 poll of the year, the Cardinals have seen some early season struggles. Louisville dropped its first two games to California, 75-71 and Western Kentucky 71-69. Recently the Cardinals were victorious over IUPUI, 70-61 after trailing by 14 at the half. As a team, Louisville averages 68.1 points per game, good for ninth in the ACC. One of the Cardinals' strengths this season is the success the team has found at the free throw line. Louisville is fourth in the conference shooting .720 from the charity stripe.
LAST TIME AGAISNT THE ACC
This will be Dartmouth's first game against an ACC opponent since 2013, when the Big Green fell to Syracuse in the Carrier Dome. Roland scored six against the Orange that day while Szabo grabbed two boards.
STARTING STRONG
Dartmouth has been solid in the first quarter of games this season, outscoring opponents 133-112.
BLOCK PARTY
The Big Green have been improving on defense as 2015 comes to a close. Dartmouth has recorded 28 blocks this season compared to its opponents 19.
ROLAND RISING IN THE RANKINGS
Roland has been adding to her career numbers elevating her in some of the Big Green's all-time record rankings. After scoring 12 against the Hawks, Roland rose to 20th all time in points scored with 909. Roland is currently 12th in free throws attempted with 318. She is also 10th in free throws made with 240. Roland passed Sue Stuebner in rebounds for 14th all-time with 565.
