MONDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth women's basketball team will try win its second straight game when the Big Green take on Holy Cross in the team's last contest before Christmas.
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth is coming off a hard fought 60-47, victory over Niagara at home last Friday. Junior Fanni Szabo led the Big Green with 15 points. As a team, Dartmouth shot 46 percent from the field and made 7 of 15 from behind the arc.
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
Fresh off a 58-44 win over Manhattan on Dec. 12, Holy Cross is off to a 3-7 start this season with all three victories coming in Worcester. Senior forward Raquel Scott leads the Crusaders' offense, scoring 16.4 points a game. Her best game of the season came in a 86-82, overtime loss to Penn State when Scott poured in 36 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. As a team, Holy Cross is third in the Patriot League in scoring offense with 63 points per game.
LAST TIME AGAINST HOLY CROSS
On Nov. 20, 2015, Szabo scored a staggering 31 points in a 69-53 victory over the Crusaders at Leede Arena. Szabo shot 11 of 17 from the field with a trio of three-pointers in the victory. Senior Lakin Roland recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds in what was Dartmouth's second straight victory of the season. The Big Green defense shut down Holy Cross, forcing 23 turnovers and tallying 11 steals.
STARTING STRONG
Dartmouth has been solid in the first quarter of games this season, outscoring opponents 173-150.
BLOCK PARTY
The Big Green have been improving on defense. Dartmouth has recorded 33 blocks this season compared to its opponents 24.
ROLAND RISING IN THE RANKINGS
Roland has been adding to her career numbers, elevating her in some of the Big Green's all-time record rankings. After her game against Niagara, Roland moved into 11th all-time in rebounds with 596. She is also 10th in free throws made with 245 and free throw attempts with 336.
RACE TO 1,000
Szabo and Roland are both knocking on the door of a major milestone, as both players are close to 1,000 career points. Currently Roland has 954 points good for 19th on the all-time list, while Szabo is not far behind with 923 points.
