THIS WEEK'S GAMES
After winning back-to-back games for the first time this season, the Dartmouth women's basketball team will look to end 2015 on a high note with its final two out of conference games of the year against Central Conn. State and NJIT.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green are coming off a 60-54, victory over Holy Cross on Dec. 21 in Worcester, Mass. In what was a total team effort, Dartmouth played tough on defense winning the battle on the boards out-rebounding the Crusaders 36-22. Senior Lakin Roland led all scorers with 24 points and sophomore Kate Letkewicz tallied 10 points for the Big Green.
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS
Central Connecticut has seen some struggles this season, recording one win in its last eight games. The Blue Devils only two victories of the year came at home when CCSU defeated UMass Lowell 64-53, on Nov. 17 and Massachusetts 78-68, in overtime on Dec. 12. As a team, the Blue Devils average 52.8 points and 31.6 rebounds per game. Sophomore Camden Musgrave leads Central Connecticut with 11.3 points per game, shooting 41.8 percent from the field.
SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
NJIT has one victory in its last six game, when the Highlanders took down LIU Brooklyn 53-44, on Dec. 9. Since then, the Highlanders have lost three straight. Leah Horton leads her team with 12.3 points. Her best game of the season was against LIU Brooklyn when she poured in a season-high 18 points.
RACE TO 1,000 POINTS
Roland is just 22 points away from reaching 1,000 career points. In her final year in Hanover, the senior has averaged 14.1 points a game and has scored 21 points or more twice this season. Not far behind Roland is teammate, junior Fanni Szabo with 929.
STARTING STRONG
Dartmouth has been solid in the first quarter of games this season, outscoring opponents 195-166.
BLOCK PARTY
The Big Green have been improving on defense. Dartmouth has recorded 33 blocks compared to its opponents 27.
ROLAND RISING IN THE RANKINGS
Roland has been adding to her career numbers, elevating her in some of the Big Green's all-time rankings. She is currently 11th in rebounds with 603 and 10th in free throws made and free throws attempted.
