THIS WEEKEND'S GAMES
Following its loss to Oakland, the Dartmouth women's basketball team continues its non-conference schedule with home games against Rhode Island on Friday and Maine on Sunday at Leede Arena.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green were defeated, 78-60, by the Golden Grizzlies on Tuesday in Rochester, Michigan. Once again, Dartmouth played a strong first quarter outscoring its opponent 11-7. Despite having four players reach double digits in points, the Big Green could not overcome a strong offensive performance from Oakland. Sophomore Kate Letkewicz was Dartmouth's leading scorer with 16 points as she went 7 for 18 from the field.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
Rhode Island is coming off a 67-63 loss to Ivy League leading, Brown. The Rams are currently 2-4 overall with wins over Harvard and UMass Lowell. Sophomore guard Charise Wilson leads her team in points with 15.5 per game and rebounds with 3.8. As a team, Rhode Island is second amongst Atlantic 10 teams with 10.3 steals a game.
SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS
Maine just wrapped up a successful November, going 8-3 to sit in third place in their conference. The Black Bears recently took down in-state rival Colby, 82-42, after winning games against LSU and Missouri State in the Gulf Coast Showcase Tournament. Maine's offense is led by junior guard, Sigi Kolzar, who is shooting an impressive 49 percent from the field and averaging 17.2 points per game.
STARTING STRONG
The Big Green have been solid in the first quarters of games this season, outscoring their opponents 92-69. On defense, Dartmouth tallies 2.7 blocks per game, compared to its opponents 2.0.
LEADING THE PACK
Senior Lakin Roland leads the Big Green, averaging 12.3 points and eight rebounds a game. She has also reached double digits in scoring in all but one game this season. Roland recorded her first double-double of the year against Boston University when she scored 19 points and grabbed 16 boards.
