The Dartmouth women's basketball team will honor its three seniors this weekend and Stand Tall for a Cure against Columbia on Friday. All fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness. The first 100 fans will receive pink rally towels, and there will be pink T-shirts tossed into the crowd courtesy of JMH Wealth Management. The Big Green are partnering with Norris Cotton Cancer Center and will honor cancer survivors during starting lineups.
Senior Weekend
On Saturday, Dartmouth will honor its three seniors in the Class of 2015 — Nicole Beresford, Tia Dawson and Milica Toskovic. Prior to the season, the trio was named by coach Koclanes as the Senior Leadership Group.
Nicole Beresford: Beresford has played in 26 games in three seasons with the Big Green. Beresford averaged 1.5 points per game and 1.6 rebounds per contest. Her career-best is six points, which she scored on two occasions. Beresford has battled multiple injuries during her career but has played in two games as a senior.
Tia Dawson: Dawson will go down as one of the best defensive players in program history, Dawson is eighth in blocks with 117 and 13th in rebounds with 553. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native has played in 82 career games and is averaging 5.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
Milica Toskovic: Toskovic has played in 101 games with 69 starts and is averaging 5.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Toskovic's career-best is 17 points which she's netted twice with 13 rebounds that she grabbed against Kent State in late November.
Columbia Series
With the win over Columbia on Valentine's Day, the Big Green will be looking for their third consecutive win over the Lions. In 62 games thus far, Dartmouth is 50-12 overall against Columbia.
Scouting the Lions
Columbia has come on strong lately, winning two of its last four and almost knocking off Dartmouth on Valentine's Day at Levien Gym. Tori Oliver is leading the squad with 17.0 points per game. Rookie Camille Zimmerman has picked up five Ivy League Rookie of the Week awards and is second in team scoring at 13.7. Classmate Alexa Giuliano has also received a Rookie of the Week selection and is third with 10.7 points per contest.
Cornell Series
The 73rd meeting between the Big Green and Big Red concludes the season series between the “Big” combatants. Dartmouth is looking to snap a five-game losing streak versus Cornell, but holds a 54-18 advantage against the Big Red. Cornell used an early lead to defeat the Big Green by 20 points, 64-44 earlier in the month.
Scouting the Big Red
Cornell enters this weekend tied for third in the Ivy League with a 6-4 record. Nia Marshall leads the squad with 17.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Nicholle Aston is second in both categories at 12.0 and 7.3, respectively.
Weekend Recap
It was a tough road weekend for the Big Green who fell to No. 16/17 Princeton, 70-31 and Penn 63-46. The Tigers defense held Dartmouth to just 19 percent shooting compared to the 52 percent shot by the hosts. Princeton finished with three players in double figures and Dartmouth had junior Lakin Roland and freshman Andi Norman finish just below double digits with nine points each. At Penn, senior Tia Dawson picked up her eighth career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Fanni Szabo led the team with 14 points.
