Most Wins Since......
This season, under second-year head coach Belle Koclanes, the Big Green have won the most games since the 2008-09 season when the team won 18 games and claimed their last Ivy League Title and NCAA appearance. Since then, the team has won 34 games in five seasons. The last time the squad won more than four Ivy League games was in 09-10 when the team went 6-8.
Brown Series:
The 77th meeting between the Big Green and Bears will begin the final weekend of the season. Just like the all-time series with Yale, Dartmouth holds a commanding 50-26 edge. As of late, Dartmouth has dropped seven of the last nine after winning the previous nine consecutive games.
Scouting the Bears:
Since defeating Dartmouth on Feb. 7, Brown has gone 1-5 with its lone win against Cornell (58-51). Jordin Alexander leads the team in scoring at 15.5 per contest and is trailed by Sophie Bikofsky at 12.8. Freshman Janie White leads the team with 6.0 rebounds per contest. White missed the first Dartmouth game with an injury.
Yale Series:
The 76th meeting between the Big Green and Bulldogs will take place on Friday evening at Lee Amp. The Big Green hold a 51-24 advantage against the squad pressed up against the Long Island Sound. Yale swept the series last season for the first time since 2010-11. Earlier this season, Yale defeated the Big Green, 60-46
Scouting the Bulldogs:
Just like Brown, Yale has only won one game since the Dartmouth game in early February which was against Columbia (67-57). Freshman Tamara Simpson leads the active Yale players with 8.2 points per game. Senior Sarah Halejian has the overall lead (14.9) but has missed the last 14 games with an injury. Sophomore Katie Werner is second (7.8) and junior Whitney Wycoff is fourth (7.7).
Climbing the Ranks:
Senior Tia Dawson is making the best of her senior campaign. After missing nearly all of last season due to an injury, the Big Green veteran is moving up Dartmouth's All-Time rankings in rebounds and blocks. She is currently 13th in rebounds with 582 and sits four behind Patty Webb '90. Dawson has passed some all-time greats like Jeannie Cullen '06, Ashley Taylor '07 and Allison Greene '90. In blocks, Dawson is tied for eighth with Elise Morrison '06, rejecting 120 shots. Dawson is one away from Jayne Daigle '86.
Southern Ivy Recap:
It was a tough road weekend for the Big Green who fell to No. 16/17 Princeton, 70-31 and Penn 63-46. The Tigers defense held Dartmouth to just 19 percent shooting compared to the 52 percent shot by the hosts. Princeton finished with three players in double figures and Dartmouth had junior Lakin Roland and freshman Andi Norman finish just below double digits with nine points each. At Penn, senior Tia Dawson picked up her eighth career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Fanni Szabo led the team with 14 points.
Empire State Recap
Dartmouth snapped a six-game winless streak on Saturday at Columbia, 61-54, in overtime. On Friday night, Cornell scored the game's first 12 points en route to a 66-46 win at Newman Arena. Sophomore Fanni Szabo led the Big Green in both games, netting 11 and 27 points, respectively. Senior Tia Dawson made the start at center on Saturday and had a strong weekend with 20 total rebounds.
Yale, Brown Recap
The losing streak moved to five games for the Dartmouth women's basketball team, as the Big Green fell to Yale (60-46) and Brown (50-47). Poor shooting hurt the Big Green down the stretch against Yale, which saw the hosts go field goal-less for the final 11 minutes of play. Against Brown, the roles were reversed as the Bears were unable to make a basket in the final nine minutes, but Dartmouth could not complete the comeback. Junior Lakin Roland led the Big Green in scoring in both games and netted 14 and 17 points, respectively.
