Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week - Parisi & McCalmon

There is a little less dust on the playing fields after weekend sweeps by the baseball and softball teams. Senior Matt Parisi led the baseball team to its first ever four game sweep of Yale, while junior Morgan McCalmon is helping the softball team continue its winning ways, winning the second game against Yale both days and contributing with her bat as well.

Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Matt Parisi, Sr., Clermont, Fla., Inf., Baseball

Matt Parisi set an Ivy League record and matched a mark not seen at Dartmouth in 72 years when he belted four doubles in a 22-10 victory at Yale on April 11. The senior shortstop from Clermont, Florida, finished the game 4-for-6 while scoring three runs (equaling a personal best) and driving in three more (a new career high). Parisi was instrumental in the Big Green's first-ever four-game sweep at Yale, going 7-for-19 (.368) with four runs, four RBIs and five doubles, all while playing flawlessly in the field. For the season, he leads the team with a .339 average, 21 runs and 38 hits while topping the Ivy League with 14 doubles entering Tuesday's doubleheader at UMass Lowell.

Morgan McCalmon, Jr., Norman, Okla., P/DP/1B, Softball

Junior Morgan McCalmon led the Big Green with nine runs batted in and two home runs at Yale this past weekend. McCalmon aided in the Big Green's sweep on both ends, as she won the tailends of both doubleheaders which included a 10-strikeout performance. She is 7-1 inside the circle this season and is hitting .271.
