5/7/2015 10:32:00 AM | Men's Tennis, Softball, Athletics
NCAA Bound - Junior Dovydas Sakinis earned a berth in the NCAA tennis singles while senior Kristen Rumley is headed to postseason for the second straight year with softball. Rumley helped the softball team with her arm and her bat as the Green swept the Quakers for the Ivy Championship crown. Dovydas becomes the third Dartmouth men's tennis player in history to qualify for the tournament.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Dovydas Sakinis, Jr., Siaulai, Lithuania., Tennis
Kristen Rumley, Sr., Katy, Texas, LHP, Softball
Senior Kristen Rumley went 3-for-6 at the plate in the Ivy League Championship Series and tossed a gem to lead the Big Green back to the NCAA Tournament after a best-two-out-of-three sweep of the Penn Quakers on Saturday. Rumley went the distance in game one and allowed a solo home run in the second before shutting the door on the visitors. She gave up five hits and struck out five in the win. She was also responsible for the lone RBI in game two with a single in the first frame of the nightcap.
