HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth College athletics department today announced complete football schedules through the year 2020. In addition, a pair of non-conference opponents were revealed for the two seasons following 2020, including a historic contest at Army West Point in 2022.
The clash at West Point will be just the third Big Green game against a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponent since Division I split into two football classifications in 1978 — I-A (now FBS) and I-AA (Football Championship Subdivision, or FCS). The last time Dartmouth took on an FBS opponent was on Oct. 4, 1986 when Navy hosted the Big Green and handed them a 45-0 defeat. Three years prior, the Black Knights narrowly edged Dartmouth in West Point by a final of 13-12.
In
2016, Dartmouth will open the season on Sept. 17 by hosting its in-state rival, New Hampshire, in an attempt to knock off the Wildcats, which have become a fixture in the national FCS rankings. A trip to Holy Cross and the first-ever showdown with Towson — which reached the 2013 FCS Championship game — at Memorial Field complete the non-conference slate. The traditional Ivy League schedule will begin with Penn in Hanover on Oct. 1 and ending at Princeton on Nov. 19.
Another first-time opponent shows up to start the
2017 campaign as the Big Green will travel to DeLand, Florida to take on Stetson on Sept. 16. Holy Cross invades Memorial Field in week two, and Dartmouth goes to Sacred Heart three weeks later to round out the action outside the Ivy League.
The
2018 season brings a slight change to the Ivy League lineup as the final three games will be shuffled a bit. Instead of Dartmouth finishing the year against Princeton, that game will take place in week eight. The contest with Cornell will be pushed to week nine, and the Big Green will conclude the season — and every season for the foreseeable future — against Brown. The non-conference games will feature Georgetown making its first trip to Memorial Field, a road match-up at Holy Cross and a home game versus Sacred Heart.
The following year,
2019, will have road games against two new opponents in Jacksonville and Marist of the Pioneer Football League (PFL), and a home game versus an old foe returning to the fold in Colgate of the Patriot League. Dartmouth and the Raiders will end an eight-year hiatus in their series, which has been played 25 times including every season between 1998 and 2011.
Finally,
2020 will bring Jacksonville and Marist to Hanover, while the Big Green will make their return trip to Towson four years after the first meeting between the two schools.
Joining Army West Point on the
2022 schedule, as well as the slate the year before, will be another PFL school in Valparaiso.

Dartmouth opens the 2015 campaign on Sept. 19 at Georgetown in the first game between the two programs in 99 years.
