SATURDAY'S GAME
On Saturday, the Dartmouth women's basketball team heads to Harvard for the first Ivy League road trip of the season in search of its first conference victory.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green are coming off a 56-43, loss to the Crimson in the conference opener between the two Ancient Eight schools at Leede Arena on Jan. 9. In that game, senior Lakin Roland led the team with 21 points and 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. As a team, Dartmouth shot 32% percent from the field as well as from beyond the arc. Late in the fourth quarter, Harvard went on a 7-0 run to take a 53-34 lead. However, the Big Green came storming back to cut the lead to just 10 points before ultimately falling to the Crimson.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
Harvard is 3-5 in its last eight games and 6-8 on the season thus far. The Crimson offense is led by its two seniors, AnnMarie Healy and Shilpa Tummala. Healy averages 14.6 points per game, while Tummala pours in 13.1. On Jan. 9 against Dartmouth Healy scored 12 points, while Tummala added 11. She is also second in the Ivy League in three-point percentage shooting 44 percent. As a team Harvard averages 38.6 boards a game for fifth in the conference.
CLUB 1,000
On Dec. 31, 2015 in Dartmouth's victory over NJIT, Roland scored the 1,000th point of her career. Roland entered the game with 995 career points and at the 5:30 mark of the first quarter she hit a jumper near the free throw line for the milestone basket.
TOUGH ON THE BOARDS
Roland currently leads the Ivy League in total rebounds with 139, averaging 8.2 per game. She is also 10th on the Big Green's all-time rebounds list with 628 career boards. Not far behind Roland this season is sophomore Kate Letkewicz who is fifth among the Ancient Eight teams with 115 total rebounds.
STARTING STRONG
Dartmouth has been solid in the first quarter of games this season, outscoring its opponents 232-198.
SUCCESS BEHIND THE ARC
The Big Green have found some success this season from three-point range. As a team, the Big Green shoot .335 from behind the arc compared to their opponents .319. Letkewicz leads the team, draining 31 of 88 from three-point range.
