THE WEEKEND'S GAMES
The Dartmouth women's basketball team will look to get back to winning ways when the Big Green travel south to take on Yale on Friday night and Brown on Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
Last Saturday, the Big Green fell to league-leading Penn 56-41, despite a solid effort. A power outage occurred in the final 31 seconds of the contest, but it did not play a factor in the final decision. Once again senior Lakin Roland turned in a solid performance scoring 21 points in the 38 minutes she saw on the floor. Both teams shot 35 percent from the field, however Dartmouth held a slight advantage from beyond the arc shooting 33 percent.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale heads into this weekend's contest in the midst of a four game losing streak. Last weekend the Bulldogs fell 77-71 at Columbia and 74-63 to Cornell in Ithaca. As a team, Yale averages 63.8 points per game as the Bulldogs offense is led by senior Nyasha Sarju who scores 15.1 points per game. She is also currently fourth in the Ivy League in total points with 332, behind Roland's 337.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown is coming off a 73-63 victory over Columbia last Saturday in New York. It was the Bears' first conference victory of the season after Brown dropped an 85-70 decision to Cornell on Friday. The Bear's are led by senior Jordin Alexander who averages 14.4 points per game. Brown freshman Shayna Mehta has had a break out debut in Providence as she averages 12.4 points a game.
PLAYING BY THE RULES
The Big Green are the third least penalized among the Ancient Eight teams with 15.9 personal fouls per game. On the flip side, Yale is the most penalized team in the Ivy League at 20.7 fouls per game.
TOUGH ON THE BOARDS
Roland is currently third in the Ivy League in total rebounds with 187 averaging, 8.5 per game. She is also 10th on the Big Green's all-time rebounds list with 676 career boards. Not far behind Roland is sophomore Kate Letkewicz who is sixth among Ancient Eight teams with 157 rebounds.
SUCCESS BEHIND THE ARC
Dartmouth has found success this season from three-point range. As a team, the Big Green shoot .326 from beyond the arc compared to their opponents .317. Letkewicz leads the team, draining 41 of 118 from three-point range.
