THIS WEEKEND'S GAMES
Having won four straight, the Dartmouth women's basketball team will play its final two home games of the season against Brown and Yale.
LAST TIME OUT
Last Saturday the Big Green took down Columbia, 63-53 in the team's annual pink game for breast cancer awareness. Thanks to a 20-plus point performance from sophomore Kate Letkewicz and senior Lakin Roland, Dartmouth shot 41.8 percent from the field in the Big Green's fourth consecutive win in conference play. A strong defensive effort opened the door for Dartmouth's top scoring threats. Roland finished the game with a team-high 24 points. Letkewicz scored 20 and grabbed 10 boards for her fourth double-double of the season earning her Ivy League Player of the Week honors.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
After starting the season 11-1, Brown has faced adversity in Ivy League play going 1-9 in its last 10 games. The Bears lone Ancient Eight victory was a 73-63 decision at Columbia on Feb. 6. Recently Brown fell to Princeton 83-57, after the Bears struggled from the field, shooting just 29 percent. A pair of guards lead the Brown offense as senior Jordin Alexander scores 13.9 points per game and freshman Shayna Mehta pours in 13.1
LAST TIME AGAINST BROWN
On Feb. 13, the Big Green defeated the Bears, 63-50 in Providence. After trailing, 35-21 at the half, junior Fanni Szabo helped spark a comeback scoring four quick points out of the break. Roland, who was held scoreless in the first half, scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season. In the fourth quarter a key 16-0 run got Dartmouth back in the contest, which eventually gave them the lead for good.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale has also had some trouble in Ivy League play having lost eight straight against the ancient eight after sweeping Brown to start conference play. Recently, the Bulldogs fell to league leading Penn, 77-59 in New Haven. Yale's offense is led by the league's fifth best shooter, senior Nyasha Sarju, who averages 15.1 points per game.
LAST TIME AGAINST YALE
On Feb. 12, the Big Green engineered one of their best comebacks of the season when Dartmouth battled back from a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat the Bulldogs 68-63. Despite committing 13 turnovers in the first half, the Big Green were able to rally in the second half, highlighted by an 11-0 run in the final minutes of the third quarter.
SENIOR SALUTE
On Saturday, Dartmouth will honor its seniors Roland and center, Daisy Jordan. Roland will finish her career as one of the most storied players to put on a Big Green uniform. This year Roland became the 17th player to reach 1,000 career points and will finish in the top 10 in rebounds, free throws made and free throws attempted. Jordan has also been an important part of Dartmouth's success this season at the post position. She will finish her career with over 400 points and 200 rebounds.
CLUB 1,000
One more member of the Big Green may be joining Roland this season in the 1,000-point club. Szabo currently sits at 985 career points after she scored 18 points combined against Cornell and Columbia last weekend.
SUCCESS BEHIND THE ARC
Dartmouth has found success this season from three-point range. As a team, the Big Green shoot .336 from beyond the arc compared to their opponents .304. Letkewicz leads the team draining 50 of 136 from three-point range.
