HANOVER, N.H. – The draws for the 2016 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Doubles Championship were released this week.
Junior Taylor Ng and sophomore Kristina Mathis – who were ranked 23rd in the country in the May 5 ITA Rankings – will take on No. 15 Alexandra Osborne and Ebony Panoho of Arizona State in the Round of 32 at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 26.
Osborne and Panoho, who both hail from Australia, were one of the 21 at-large selections to the championship. At the end of April, they claimed ASU's first-ever Pac-12 doubles title by defeating USC'S fourth-ranked doubles pair in the semifinal.
As a team, the Sun Devils made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last week, defeating North Carolina State before falling to Auburn. Osborne and Panoho dropped the first match, 6-3, and were trailing, 4-3, in the second.
Ng and Mathis make up one of the 11 automatic qualifying-teams in the championship, becoming the first Dartmouth pair to ever make it. They have an overall record of 23-3 and were 14-1 in dual matches, their lone loss of the season coming against Boston University on Valentine's Day. They were a unanimous First Team All-Ivy selection at the end of the regular season and are the only Ivy League doubles team to qualify for NCAAs this year.
The Big Green duo was ranked for the entirety of the season and had a four-match stint where they were sitting as high as No. 7 in the country.
