THIS WEEKEND'S GAMES
This weekend the Dartmouth women's basketball team hosts Rhode Island on Friday, Nov. 24, and NJIT on Sunday, Nov. 26 to wrap up a four-game home stand to get the season started.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
Rhode Island enters the contest with a 1-3 record after falling to Jacksonville State on Monday night, 63-53. Sophomore Nicole Jorgensen has the highest points-per-game average, after one game, where she scored 15 points. Freshman Abby Streeter is second in scoring with 11.3 points-per-game, and redshirt-freshman Meghan Oberg is helping on the defensive side of the ball, averaging seven defensive rebounds per game.
LAST TIME AGAINST RHODE ISLAND
On Dec. 18, 2016, Dartmouth took down Rhode Island on the road, 62-52. Scoring was led by Olivia Smith who scored 16 points and grabbed 15 boards, and Isalys Quiñones who also scored 16 points. The game lead went back and forth in the first half, with the Rams enjoying a 15-0 run in the first quarter. The Big Green came back in the third quarter after edging into the score before halftime, tying the game up in the third, and taking the lead after a 13-0 run in the fourth quarter.
SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
NJIT opened the season with four straight losses after falling to Saint Peter's on Sunday night, and will play Army West Point on the road on Wednesday, Nov. 22, before coming to Hanover. Taj Lewis is leading the Highlanders in scoring, averaging 11 points-per-game, followed by Amarri Trueheart who's posted a per-game average of 10.3 points.
LAST TIME AGAINST NJIT
In December of 2015, Dartmouth defeated NJIT 49-36 in Newark, led by Lakin Roland who scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds. The Big Green had a nice lead coming into the half, up 27-19, and held off the Highlanders scoring through the end of the game. Late-game scoring was capped by Kate Letkewicz downing three of four free throws to hold onto the lead.
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth is coming off a 68-57 win over Boston College, the first-ever win over the ACC squad, on Nov. 12 at home. Junior Cy Lippold is leading the Big Green with an average of 18 points-per-game, and Letkewicz is close behind posting 15.5 per game. Against the Eagles, Lippold dropped 16 to lead the squad to victory, also playing more minutes than she usually might, as point guard Annie McKenna was out for the first two games.
CLASS OF 2021
With only two freshmen on the team this year, Dartmouth has a slightly older team, but both Elle Louie and Anna Luce have already scored their first collegiate points after coming in off the bench during the first two games of the year.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Following the last two games of the four-game home stand, the Big Green will get their taste of road action next week, heading to Army West Point on Wednesday, Nov. 29, and a matchup at Marist on Saturday, Dec. 2.
