HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth junior Isiah Swann is one of the 25 finalists for the Buck Buchanan Award, given to the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Defensive Player of the Year as announced by STATS this morning.
Swann, a 6-0, 190 pound cornerback from Queen Creek, Arizona, leads the nation with nine interceptions and ranks third with 18 passes defended. In addition to his coverage prowess, Swann recorded 39 tackles and recovered a fumble to help the No. 15 Big Green rank second in scoring defense and fifth in total defense among FCS teams.
The nine interceptions set a new Dartmouth record for a single season, and Swann's 13 picks in his career tie the career mark for the Big Green with still a season to come. On Sept. 22, he also became the first Dartmouth player with three interceptions in one game since 1990 when he nabbed three in the first half at Holy Cross in a 34-14 victory. That performance earned him Defensive Player of the Week honors from both the Ivy League (for a second straight week) and STATS for all of the FCS.
A national panel of over 150 sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries will select the winners. Voting is based on the regular season.

All four awards plus the STATS FCS Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be celebrated at the STATS FCS Awards Banquet and Presentation, scheduled for Jan. 4 in Frisco, Texas, on the eve of the national championship game.
