Their efforts are rewarded by being named the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Brendan Barry, Jr., Fair Haven, N.J., G, Men's Basketball
Junior Brendan Barry, a 6-2 guard from Fair Haven, New Jersey, averaged 21.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists in three men's basketball victories last week. Those three wins extended Dartmouth's winning streak to four games, the longest for the Green since the end of the 2014-15 regular season. Much of Barry's scoring came from behind the arc where he hit 16-of-29 3-pointers, including 8-fof-13 against Sacred Heart to produce a career-high 31 points in the 82-73 triumph, becoming the first Big Green player to top 30 in a game in over three years. Barry is currently the nation's leader in 3-point percentage (55.8) and is second on the team in scoring (14.7 ppg).
Cy Lippold, Sr., Bronx, N.Y., G, Women's Basketball
Cy Lippold caught fire Wednesday night, leading her team to a 70-56 win over UMass Lowell. The senior from the Bronx drilled seven 3-pointers, including five in the third quarter to finish with a career high 25 points. Her seven threes was one short of the Dartmouth single game record. The performance got Lippold's scoring average in double figures with 10.2 ppg.Â
