Â
This installment features Audrey Giblin of the women's sailing team. She earned ICSA Honorable Mention honors in the Women's All-American Skippers this past spring,
Â
DartmouthSports: What have you been doing during your sophomore summer?
Audrey Giblin: I've been trying to be outside as much as possible, especially spending time at the river and trying to find new swimming spots and rope swings all over.
Â
DS: What is your favorite place on campus?
AG: My favorite place on campus is the Green. When it's nice out, I love eating lunch or dinner there.
Â
DS: What was it in the recruiting process that sold you on Dartmouth?
AG: I loved Dartmouth because of the community within the sailing team and the athletic department as a whole. You feel really supported as an athlete here, and everyone wants to see you succeed. I also visited on a beautiful day in the spring and got to watch a perfect practice at the lake, so that also helped.
Â
DS: If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
AG: Emma White, so I could be able to do a lot of pullups.
Â
DS: Other than your parents, who has had the greatest influence on your life?
AG: My younger brother Cameron definitely has had a huge influence on my life. He is my sailing role model because he is so talented. We've always been competitive and he pushes me to be better every day.
Â
DS: What has been your best sailing memory thus far in your Dartmouth career?
AG: My favorite memory was my first college sailing national championship freshman year in Charleston, South Carolina. It's a really historical place to sail and the conditions are always great, and I think the energy of sailing at an event of that caliber was really exciting to be a part of.
Â
DS: How is Hanover different or similar to where you grew up?
AG: I grew up in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey, a small town by the beach. Hanover is pretty similar in size to where I grew up, but also very different because it's not near the ocean.
Â
DS: What show do you binge watch?
AG: Billions. It's so good I think I watched a whole season in one day.
Â
DS: If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
AG: I would go to Australia because I want to see the Great Barrier Reef.
