Zach Kalk finishes the season as Dartmouth's leading goal scorer

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Dartmouth men's soccer team was dealt a 2-1 defeat in its final match of the season at Brown on Saturday. Zach Kalk scored the lone goal for the Big Green. Malcolm Johnson and Derek Waleffe found the back of the net for the Bears.

Dartmouth closes its season with a 6-8-2 record and 3-3-1 in the Ivy League, while Brown ends its year at 4-9-4 and 2-2-3 in conference.

The Big Green had five shots compared to three for the Bears over the first 30 minutes. Dartmouth was then rewarded with a penalty kick in the 33rd minute when Clayton Molter was tackled in the box. Kalk stepped up buried the PK to put Dartmouth on the board first.

With the goal, Kalk has now scored in three straight matches and finishes the season as Dartmouth's leading goal scorer with four and points getter with 11.

Brown took advantage in the final seconds before halftime. In the 45th minute, the Bears had a throw in, and the ball was ping-ponged around in front of Dartmouth's goal and eventually led to a score with only 22 seconds before the break.

The Bears outshot Dartmouth, 7-3, in the second half. The game-winner came on their sixth shot in the 79th minute. A long cross once against had the ball bouncing free in Dartmouth's zone and Waleffe sent the difference-making goal home.

Saturday marked the final match for seniors Will Chisholm, Jesse Scanlon, Henry Stusnick, Braden Salvati, Henry Baldwin and Zach Kalk.
