ETNA, N.H. - The Dartmouth equestrian team had a very successful home opener show on Saturday, beating out four other teams to win the competition at Morton Farm in their first ever International Intercollegiate Equestrian Invitational.
The Big Green hosted the Oxford equestrian team in their first visit and competition against Dartmouth.
The friendly scrimmage followed a different format than usual, using the regulations of the Athletic Equestrian League, rather than the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. All riders were judged against a set of standards, both on the flat and over fences or in patterns. Each rider received a flat score worth 40 points and a fences or patterns score worth 40 points and both scores were added together for a final total for the day.
Senior
Meghan Poth displayed a stellar performance opening the show with winning her respective Open Fences and Flat class. Poth earned the highest collective points in the Open division taking home the High Point Open Rider Champion. Senior captain
Sophie Lenihan also got the day off to a great start by winning her respective Open Fences and Flat class and taking home the Reserve High Point Champion for the Open Division.
