HANOVER, N.H. — Buddy Teevens, the Robert L. Blackman Head Football Coach at Dartmouth College, announced the completion of the Big Green's 2020 fall schedule with the addition of the University of New Haven as the team's season opener. This will be the first meeting between Dartmouth and the Division II Chargers.
The Big Green were originally scheduled to play Jacksonville University on Sept. 19, but the Dolphins dropped their program following the 2019 campaign, necessitating Dartmouth finding a different team to host on that date. New Haven posted a 7-3 record in 2019 and won its final four contests.
Other non-conference games on the Big Green slate will be Towson (7-5 in 2019) in Baltimore on Sept. 26 and Marist — a team Dartmouth defeated by a 49-7 margin last fall — at Memorial Field on Oct. 17. The first Ivy League game will also be homecoming on Oct. 3 when the Big Green play host to Penn, while the showdown versus Yale (who shared the conference crown with 21st-ranked Dartmouth in 2019) will take place the following weekend at the Yale Bowl.
The other home games will be played on Oct. 31 (Harvard) and Nov. 21 (Brown) for the season finale. The Big Green travel to Columbia (Oct. 24), Princeton (Nov. 7) and Cornell (Nov. 14).
Notes: Dartmouth has defeated each of its last 10 first-time opponents (including Jacksonville and Marist last fall) … the last team to beat the Big Green in the first meeting between the two teams was Fordham in 1951 … the other teams Dartmouth has beaten in the streak are Stetson (2017), Towson (2016), Central Connecticut State (2014), Butler (2012), Sacred Heart (2010), Davidson (1987), Bucknell (1963) and Rutgers (1952).
