This is the sixth time Dartmouth has finished on top in the 10 years the Ivy League schools have been included.
HANOVER, N.H. — The NCAA released its annual student-athlete graduation success report today and Dartmouth College was tied for first in the nation with a 99 percent Graduation Success Rate (GSR) for student-athletes who began their college careers in 2013. Dartmouth has been ranked in the top three slots each of the 10 years that the Ivy League has been included in the GSR data collection, earning the top spot nationally six times.
Â
Dartmouth had 14 of its 20 NCAA-sponsored teams post a perfect 100 percent GSR, and all varsity teams — including its non-NCAA-sponsored sports — were at or above 94 percent.
Â
Three of the other seven Ivy League schools also had a GSR of 99 percent and all eight members achieved at least 96 percent, the only Division I conference in the country that could boast that accomplishment. The Ancient Eight also led the nation as a conference for the 10th consecutive year.
Â
The NCAA's Graduation Success Rate includes transfer students and student-athletes who leave in good academic standing. The GSR measures graduation over six years from first-time college enrollment.
Â
In addition to the GSR, the NCAA also releases another set of data, the Academic Progress Rate (APR), to measure the academic performance and retention of each team. Athletic programs that score in the top 10 percent of their sports are honored with APR Public Recognition Awards. For those programs that do not meet the threshold, they are subject to penalties such as postseason bans and loss of scholarships. Last spring, Dartmouth College was third in the nation in APR, giving the school a top-three ranking for the 15th consecutive year (every year since its inception). In addition, Dartmouth remains the only school to finish atop both the APR and GSR rankings in the same year for four consecutive years (2012-15).
