Men's basketball, men's lacrosse and softball in the spotlight
Back when the NCAA Tournament consisted of eight teams split into two regionals, the team that lost its opening-round endeavor would play a consolation game before at the regional heading home. Dartmouth found itself in that boat after losing a heart-breaking 51-50 contest to the Wisconsin Badgers on their home court in the Big Green's first of three appearances in the NCAAs over a four-year span.
Both players were superb in this showdown as Glamack poured in 31 points and Broberg had 18. But Broberg also had future All-American George Munroe '43 matching his total with 18 points as well and James Olsen '43 pitching in 11 more. Two other Tar Heels reached double figures as well, but Dartmouth emerged victorious in the end thanks to five points apiece from Charles Pearson '42 and reserve William Parmer '42, not to mention four more from another future All-American, Stanley Skaug '43.
Broberg scored 38 points in the two games and earned a spot on the all-tournament team, as did Munroe, according to the Dartmouth Aegis (though no records of an all-tournament team appear in the NCAA Record Book).

March 22, 2005: Men's Lacrosse shocks No. 4 Maryland
Â
This was not only the first time the Big Green had defeated the Terps in the series that dated back to 1940, but also the first time Dartmouth had been victorious against any ACC opponent in program history.
Â
The Big Green outscored the Terps, 3-1, in the third quarter to erase Maryland's two-goal halftime advantage. With the score tied at four in the fourth, Bill McGlone gave the Terps the lead, but the Green answered right back with the tying goal from Grad Heritage less than two minutes later.
Â
The game remained tied until Nick Bonacci and Daniels extended Dartmouth's lead to 7-5 and, although Maryland would get one back within the final minute, the Green's defense stood strong and turned away any would-be tying goals until the final whistle.

March 22, 2016: Softball knocks off Stanford in extras
With the score knotted at one in the eighth, sophomore Lourlin Lara on first and senior Katie McEachern on second, freshman Morgan Martinelli broke the tie by driving in McEachern with a double. Lara then scored on an error and junior Karen Chaw brought in Martinelli with a single to give the Big Green a 4-1 advantage.
Pitching was the difference maker for the Big Green. Senior Morgan McCalmon started in the circle and only allowed one earned run on seven hits while striking out five over the first seven innings. Sophomore Breanna Ethridge secured her third save of the season and struck out two batters in the eighth to seal the victory.
Dartmouth is 1-0 all-time against Stanford and the win marks the only victory against a Pac-10/Pac-12 team in program history.
