April 18, 2010: Dartmouth beats Brown in Chuck Kinyon's final home match as head coach
The Dartmouth men's tennis team recorded a 6-1 victory over Brown in the team's penultimate match of the 2009-10 season.
It was also the final home match for head coach Chuck Kinyon, who would hang up his tennis shoes for retirement at the conclusion of the school year after 30 years at Dartmouth. Kinyon had been in his current role for 27 years but had arrived on campus in 1980 to serve as head coach for men's squash and the assistant for men's tennis.
After going 11-11 in his final season, Kinyon wrapped up his illustrious career with an overall record of 279-268-1. Some highlights include ending a 79-match losing streak to Princeton (1989), winning Ivy League titles (1993, 1997), being named the United States Professional Tennis Coach of the Year (1994) as well as the ITA Coach of the Year (1994), and being inducted into the National Intercollegiate Squash Racquets Association Hall of Fame (2003).
That April day in 2010, the Big Green swept doubles to get the first point on the board and went on to win five of the six first sets in singles. Nearing the three-hour mark of the match and with a 3-0 lead, current head coach Xander Centenari '13 — who was a freshman at the time — finished the Bears off with a quick two-setter.
April 18, 2018: Jack Korzelius drafted in 2018 MLL Draft
Senior captain Jack Korzelius '18 was selected by the Atlanta Blaze with the 56th overall pick in the 2018 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Draft.
Korzelius became the ninth Big Green player in program history to appear in the draft and the first since Patrick Resch '14 was selected in 2015. The other seven picks were all between 2004 and 2007.
Hailing from Purchase, New York, he appeared in and started all 13 games throughout his final season in Hanover. He was first on the team in man-up goals (4), second in goals (20) and third in points (23).
Korzelius started the season off strong against Canisius, netting a hat trick that included scoring the game winner with just 1.9 seconds remaining in regulation. He had at least one point in 10 games and had a season-high four against Yale.
