Taurus Samuels and Sydney Herrington earn the spotlight this week.
Hailing from opposite sides of the country, this week's Big Green stars led their teams to victory on the hardwood as well as the ice. Senior Taurus Samuels from Oceanside, California, had a well-rounded game to assist in an overtime victory for the men's basketball team at Bryant. Transfer New Hampshire native Sydney Herrington scored the game winner in a women's hockey, 2-1, win over visiting St. Anselm.

Taurus Samuels, Sr., Oceanside, Calif., G, Men's Basketball
Â
While others played more visible heroes in the 63-61 overtime victory at Bryant this past Sunday, senior Taurus Samuels was the glue that allowed everything to come together. The 6-1 guard contributed 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-6 from the perimeter, plus dished out a career-high five assists without a turnover in a game that featured 34 miscues by the two teams combined (20 by the Bulldogs). After Dartmouth fell behind at the outset, 10-0, it was Samuels who righted the Big Green ship by drilling consecutive 3-point shots. Then in the overtime period, he had an impact on every bucket the Big Green scored, assisting on the first two Dartmouth baskets to rally the team from a quick four-point deficit. He then drilled a shot from the right elbow and immediately followed that up with a triple to give the Green a four-point lead. After he assisted on another bucket, Bryant tied the game with a 3-pointer. But even though he could not get a potential game-winning layup to fall in the waning seconds, he kept his head up and poked the ball loose after the rebound into the arms of Ryan Cornish, who got the assist on Aaryn Rai's layup with 0.9 seconds left.

Junior forward Sydney Herrington led the team with two points and had a goal and an assist, Saturday afternoon in a 2-1 win over Saint Anselm. Her goal was the game winner, and she was tied for the team lead with six shots on the day and went 7 for 14 on faceoffs. With the score tied at 0-0, the New Hampshire native earned a helper on sophomore Annie King's first career goal with a minute left in the second period. Four minutes into the third period, Herrington scooped up the puck off the boards and tucked it into the top right corner of the net just over the goalie's shoulder for the final score of the day.
