CHICAGO — Stats Perform today announced its FCS All-America Teams, and Dartmouth linebacker Jalen Mackie earned a spot on the third team. He joins teammate Jake Guidone as Big Green players to earn All-America accolades this postseason.
A 6-1, 240-pound senior from Miramar, Florida, Mackie was a force for the Big Green defensive unit, leading the league in tackles per game (9.6) with 86 stops in nine contests. He also had the most tackles for the Big Green seven times, including a career-high 13 against Columbia and again in the 31-7 victory over Princeton that pulled Dartmouth into a first-place tie with the Tigers. The two-time Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week added 8.0 tackles for a loss, 1.0 sacks, an interception that he returned 28 yards, two pass breakups and three quarterback hurries.
Mackie, a first-team All-Ivy League and Division I All-New England performer, was also a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award as the top defensive player in the FCS, finishing 19th in the final tabulations.
Dartmouth, ranked 19th in the final regular-season Stats Perform poll and tied for 20th in the AFCA Coaches poll, finished the season 9-1 overall and 6-1 in the Ivy League, earning its record 20th conference crown.
Notes: Guidone was named to the Associated Press All-America Third Team last week on the offensive line … this is just the second season since 1997 that Dartmouth has had two players earn All-America honors, joining the 2018 squad that boasted three players — Isiah Swann, Matt Kaskey and Rocco Di Leo.
