HANOVER, N.H. — The Big Green dropped a close 2-1 game at home against Union, Saturday afternoon. Sophomore forward
Tiffany Hill scored midway through the third to cut the two-goal deficit in half, but Dartmouth (4-8-0, 2-7-0 ECAC Hockey) could not find another as the final period came to a close.

Hannah Humphreys made her first start of the season and made 17 saves on 19 shots.
Dartmouth and Union (3-14-1, 1-9-0 ECAC Hockey) went back and forth through the first 20 minutes of play. The Big Green had two power plays but were unable to convert. They outshot the Dutchwomen 9-7 in the first and Humphreys stood tall in her first action of the season. The score was 0-0 headed into the intermission.
Union broke the stalemate early in the second period. They put home a rebound on Humphreys and the score was 1-0 four minutes into the second. The Big Green continued to battle but had to kill off two penalties and was unable to score despite leading in shots 11-9 during the 20-minute span. The Dutchwomen took their lead into the final period.
Dartmouth held Union to just three shots in the third but one of those three found the back of the net. The Dutchwomen got behind the Big Green defense and took a 2-0 lead four minutes into the period. Dartmouth battled, tallying 20 shots in the final 20 minutes and finally broke through on the power play went Hill knocked in the puck and was assisted by junior forward

The score was 2-1 and the Big Green continued to fire pucks at the Union goal through the last nine and a half minutes of play. With 1:27 left, Dartmouth pulled Humphreys for an extra attacker but came up short despite putting three shots on goal in that final stretch.
Dartmouth has a quick turnaround and returns to the ice Tuesday for a road matchup with Franklin Pierce. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. in Rindge, N.H.
