Teams are now listed by sport instead of by season
HANOVER, N.H. — The Academic All-Ivy League teams for the various fall sports were announced today by the league office with a new look to the various teams. Instead of each of the Ancient Eight schools having 10 student-athletes honored by season, each Ivy League sport will have an all-academic team comprised of eight student-athletes — one from each institution.
Once the league restarts intercollegiate competitions, the all-academic teams will be announced at the same time as the All-Ivy League teams for each sport. There will also be an at-large all-academic team at the end of each school year to honor student-athletes that compete in sports not sponsored by the league.
The seven fall sports to have all-academic teams are: men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer, and women's volleyball. Normally the honorees would have their selection based on their season on the field along with the academic accomplishments. Due to the pandemic, however, the honorees were selected based on their career athletic successes along with their academic credentials.
