Statement from Interim AD Peter Roby and Dartmouth Athletics

Dartmouth Interim Director of Athletics and Recreation Peter Roby '79 released this statement on behalf of Dartmouth Athletics regarding the verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial:
As our community contemplates the verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial, it is important that we stay committed to our values and aware of our history. The unfortunate truth is that injustice has plagued our country for centuries and will not dissolve without a collective effort by those of us who believe in justice for all.
Dartmouth Athletics supports the statement from President Hanlon '77 and the ongoing efforts required to combat racism in all of its forms. There is need for change and it takes all of us.
Striving for inclusive excellence is a fundamental value in our Dartmouth community. We are committed to do our part in fostering inclusive leadership in our coaches, staff and the student-athletes who will leave Dartmouth with the opportunity to create a more compassionate and just society for all.
