ITHACA, N.Y. — Dartmouth fell to Cornell by a score of 5-0 on the road, Saturday afternoon. The loss snapped a four-game win streak for the Big Green. It was the most goals they have allowed since Nov. 13.
Dartmouth (8-9-0, 2-8-0 ECAC Hockey) fell behind early in the first. Just 24 seconds into the game, Cornell (5-7-1, 4-4-1 ECAC Hockey) took a 1-0 lead. They added another goal just over five minutes later and the score was 2-0 with 13:51 left on the clock in the first. The Big Green continued to fight, killing off two penalties and the score was 2-0 at the intermission.
Cornell struck quickly again to start the second period. Just 18 seconds after the opening faceoff they found the back of the net and Dartmouth trailed 3-0. The Big Green went 0-2 on the power play in the period and shots were 16-12 in favor of the Big Red. The score was 3-0 headed into the final period of play.
The Big Green let in another quick goal to start the third. Cornell extended their lead to four just 18 seconds into the final period. Then a minute later they scored again to make the score 5-0 with 18:19 to play. Junior forward
Hannah Humphreys finished the game in net for Dartmouth and the game concluded with a final score of 5-0.
Dartmouth finished the game with 20 shots on goal to Cornell's 26 and went 0-5 on the power play. The Big Green have a quick turnaround and return to the ice, tomorrow for another road matchup against No. 6 Colgate. The game can be streamed on ESPN+ and puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
