HANOVER, N.H. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) today announced its Academic All-District teams for women's soccer, senior
Allie Winstanley, juniors
Aspen Anderson,
Grace Faulkner,
Carly Retterer and
Taylor Williams and sophomore
Sydney Brown were recognized on the team from District I.
To be considered, a student-athlete must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games and have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale), have completed at least one full calendar year and reached sophomore athletic eligibility. They will now go on the ballot for CSC Academic All-America consideration with the first-, second- and third-team honorees being announced next month.
Named to the All-Ivy League First Team just a week ago, Winstanley led the Ancient Eight in almost every offensive category. She led in goals (11), shots on goal (33), game-winning goals (5) and points (5). Winstanley finished with three multi-goal games and had a stretch of scoring in four-straight games against LIU (Sept. 8), Fairfield (Sept. 11), Vermont (Sept. 14) and UMass Lowell (Sept. 18), with a total of six goals.
Anderson finished her junior campaign third on the team in goals with three. She got the Big Green off to a strong start, scoring the first goal of the season, also the game-winner, in the 2-0 victory over Fordham. Anderson later scored against Michigan State (Sept. 1) and UMass Lowell (Sept. 18).
Faulkner, one of the co-captains of the Big Green alongside Winstanley, appeared in every game this season, making 16 starts. She anchored the defense as one of the center-backs and finished with 1447 minutes played, the second highest on the team.
Retterer was a main stay in the Dartmouth midfield, making 13 starts in 15 games played. Logging more than 1100 minutes played, Retterer was critical in the buildup in the attack for the Big Green and finished with three shots on goal.
Williams appeared in 14 games in her junior season, making seven starts. Usually playing a center-back, she picked up her first career point in the 7-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer with an assist off a free-kick.
Brown earns the honor after finishing tied for third on the team with seven points, two goals and three assists. She scored her first career goal in the 2-0 victory over Sacred Heart (Aug. 28). Brown had a run of three straight games with an assist, at Michigan State (Sept. 4), versus LIU (Sept. 8) and at home against Fairfield (Sept. 11). She later scored her second goal of the season in the win over Colby-Sawyer.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes women's soccer honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
