OXFORD, Ohio — The Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team returned to the pool for the first time since Nov. 12 to compete in the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio. The Big Green sit in fifth place with 115 points after the opening day of the three-day event.
Joining Dartmouth at the Miami Invitational is Grand Canyon, Ball State, Bowling Green, Youngstown State, Anderson, Ashland and the host, Miami (Ohio).
Coming off a first-place finish against Harvard and Cornell in Dartmouth's most recent outing, freshman
Julianne Jones placed second in the 200 IM finals with a personal-best time of 2:01.90, which is the second-fastest in program history. She clinched a spot in the A Finals with a second-place finish (2:03.48) in prelims.
Freshman
Chiara Lopach, also coming off a victory in her last showing, placed fourth in the 3-meter dive finals with a score of 253.60 to improve on her 253.05 mark in prelims.
Dartmouth's 400 medley relay team, which consisted of
Mary Howley, Jones,
Lindsey Drumm and
Lane Murray placed fifth with a time of 3:46.38, the seventh-best in program history. The 200 freestyle relay team of
Rachel Zhang, Murray, Drumm and Howley also had a strong showing, tying for sixth with Grand Canyon at 1:34.76.
Carly Joerin led the Big Green in the 500 freestyle, touching the wall in 5:04.27 and placing 12th in the finals.
Miami currently leads the pack with 395.5 points heading into the second day of action. Friday's prelims begin at 9 a.m. and finals follow at 5 p.m.
