Doreen Ariik and Luke Allan Top the Leaderboard this Week for Dartmouth Athletics
Dartmouth may be located in small town Hanover, New Hampshire but her influence is felt world-wide. This week's athletes come from outside the United States in widely disparate countries. Both freshmen, Luke Allan hails from just north of the border in Ottawa, Ontario, while Doreen Ariik joins the Green from somewhat further south in Nairobi, Kenya. Allan earned his first podium for the Nordic ski team, coming in third at Vermont. Ariik contributed to the women's basketball team's first Ivy victory of the season with a double-double (11pts/10rbs).

Luke Allan continued to impress in his rookie season on the trails for the ski team, picking up his first podium by placing third in the men's sprint free at the Vermont Carnival last weekend. He has been the Big Green's leading skier in four of the five carnival races this winter thus far and finished in the top 10 of the field in every race, scoring points for Dartmouth each time. Halfway through the carnival season, Allan is the sixth-ranked skier in the East.

In the 58-54 defeat of Brown and Dartmouth's first Ivy League win since March 7, 2020, Doreen Ariik ended the game with a team-leading 11 points and 10 rebounds, picking up the team's first double-double of the season. Adding to her night were the first two foul shots of her career which she sank, combined with an Abejon bucket, to give the Big Green a five-point advantage in the third quarter. The 6-4 freshman went 3-4 from the line and added a couple of assists in her 27-minutes of action.
