TROY, N.Y. — The Dartmouth men's hockey team fell to RPI, 5-3, in Game 3 of the ECAC Hockey first-round series on Sunday afternoon at the Houston Field House.

Dartmouth finishes the season 7-22-3 while RPI improves to 17-21-3.

The Engineers advance to the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals with the win.

Ryan Sorkin scored in his second straight night while Hubbarde and Dorfman both scored as well.
Ian Pierce had two assists and
Tanner Palocsik provided an assist for the sixth straight game.

RPI came out with the momentum to start the game, forcing
Clay Stevenson to make five saves in the opening three minutes.

The Big Green opened the scoring midway through the first period.
Joey Musa's initial shot was blocked but the rebound fell into the path of Hubbarde, who calmly took it around RPI goaltender Jack Watson and slotted it into the corner to give Dartmouth a 1-0 lead.

Tanner Palocsik almost extended the lead shortly before the first intermission but his shot from the right side hit off the pipe and out to the boards.

Dartmouth added to the lead midway through the second period when Sorkin scored for the second straight night.
Ian Pierce took a shot that was spilled by Watson and Sorkin followed up on it for the easy finish.

RPI cut into the deficit just a few minutes later when they scored on the power play. Kjellberg fired one through the Dartmouth defense and it found its way past Stevenson to make it a 2-1 game.

The Big Green went on the power play shortly before the end of the second period after Kyle Hallbauer was called for interference. Dorfman picked up a loose puck, found some space and fired a shot into the top corner to extend the lead to 3-1 going into the final frame.

The Engineers scored the second power play goal of the night in the third period. Kjellberg took a shot from distance and scored his second of the game.

RPI tied things up just a few minutes later by scoring a short-handed goal. The Engineers forced a turnover and Zach Dubinsky brought the puck through the Big Green defense and placed one past Stevenson to tie it at 3-3.

The Engineers took their first lead of the night late in the third, scoring their third power play goal of the game. Ryan Mahshie received a pass in front of the Big Green goal and forced it into the net to give RPI a 4-3 lead.

RPI scored a late empty net goal to seal the win.
