HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth volleyball was picked to finish fifth in the Ivy League's preseason poll, which was released today by the conference office.

Dartmouth exceeded expectations after placing fifth in the poll a season ago, eventually finishing fourth in the Ancient Eight with a 7-7 conference mark.

Defending Ivy champion Brown was favored to repeat, collecting 126 points with 14 first place votes. Princeton was picked second with a pair of first place nods, while Yale followed at third. Dartmouth was just behind fourth-place Harvard with 70 points to the Crimson's 73.

The season begins Friday, Sept. 2 as Dartmouth takes on Sacred Heart on the opening day of the UCI Invitational in Irvine, California. The Ivy slate starts Saturday, Sept. 24 on the road against Harvard.
