AMELIA GIBBS DOING AMELIA GIBBS THINGS
The senior was a big part of Dartmouth's weekend sweep of Cornell and Columbia, racking up 21 kills between the two matches with an impressive .500 hitting percentage. In a 3-0 win over Cornell, she hit .636 with seven kills and followed that up with a 14-kill effort at a .440 clip. Gibbs now ranks third in the Ivy League in hitting percentage and 55th nationally.
Â
DOMINANT WIN OVER CORNELL
The Big Green hit a season-high .340 in Friday night's road win over the Big Red, which was the best percentage against an Ivy League opponent since the 2021 squad's .371 showing against Penn.
Â
FIVE-SETTERS BECOMING A THEME
Dartmouth didn't play any five-set matches in 2022 and has already played four this season. The Big Green are 2-2 in those marathon matches, including Saturday's gritty road win over Columbia.
Â
MURPHY CLOSING IN ON 1,000
Senior setter
Karen Murphy is only 12 assists away from hitting 1,000 on her career. When she hits that milestone, she'll be the ninth in program history to reach quadruple digits with two of those being current players.
Â
SPEAKING OF ASSIST MILESTONES...
Makenzie Arent, whose career assist total just moved her to fifth in program history a couple weeks ago, is now fourth with 1,857. She passed Stacey Benton '17 (1,841), but third is a ways away with Chelsea Morgan '04 at 2,988.
Â
BIG GREEN ON THE BIG SCREEN
Dartmouth's road match against Brown on Friday, Oct. 13 is set to air nationally on ESPNU. It's the second time in as many seasons the Big Green have been included in ESPN's volleyball slate, having beaten Penn on ESPNU last season.
Â
SCOUTING PENN
The Quakers have already matched their win total from last year, thanks in part to freshman Zada Sanger, who ranks second in the Ivy League in kills per set. Penn has struggled defensively, ranking among the bottom 10 in the nation in opponent hitting percentage and blocks per set.
Â
SCOUTING PRINCETON
After jousting for the top seed in the Ivy League last year, Princeton is off to a 3-1 start in the conference with its lone loss coming to defending champion Yale. The Tigers were tasked with replacing star setter Lindsey Kelly, the 2022 Ivy League Player of the Year, and have done so quite nicely with Sydney Draper, who ranks among the top 25 nationally in assists per set.
