Page and Jones sounds like a law firm but are the Athletes of the Week
The Big Green football team wrapped up the 2023 season with an Ivy title, thanks, in large part, to two touchdowns by junior running back Q Jones in a much-needed win at Brown on Saturday. On the hardwood back in Hanover, classmate Victoria Page fell just two points short of her career high with 23 points against Keene State for the women's basketball team.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named The Richards Group Athletes of the week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Q Jones, Jr., Fountain, Colo., RB, Football
Dartmouth entered the weekend needing to beat Brown in Providence to have a shot at earning a share of the Ivy League title, and Q Jones made sure the Big Green came out of the gate fast. The junior running back scored Dartmouth's first two touchdowns — the first a 19-yard burst and the second double that — and was over 100 yards less than 20 minutes into the contest. By the time halftime rolled around, the Big Green enjoyed a 28-7 lead enroute to a 38-13 triumph.
Jones finished the game with a season-high 124 yards (the most by any Dartmouth player this season) on 16 carries (7.8 yards per rush) and two touchdowns, doubling his season total. Coupled with Yale's win over Harvard, the Big Green finished in a three-way tie with the Crimson and Bulldogs for the program's league-best 21st conference crown.
Victoria Page, Jr., Murfreesboro, Tenn., G, Women's Basketball
Victoria Page was two shy of tying a career high when she led the Dartmouth women's basketball team to a win over Keene State with 23 points, including 19 in the second half. Page now has four games with 20-plus points to her credit over the last two seasons, with her career-high 25 coming in last year's road win over Monmouth. Tuesday's victory over the Owls was Dartmouth's first under Gail Koziara Boudreaux '82 and Family Head Coach Linda Cimino.
