Zalc Chosen as FCS Freshman All-American

The first-year kicker led the Ivy League in scoring and is third in the nation in field goals per game
HANOVER, N.H. — FCS Football Central announced its FCS Freshman All-America Team this week, and Dartmouth first-year Owen Zalc was included among the honorees. Zalc was one of only three Ivy Leaguers to be selected, and 43 teams across the country were represented by a total of 48 players.
A 5-10, 160-pound place kicker from Cary, North Carolina, Zalc was previously named to the All-Ivy League First Team and Division I All-New England Team. He was chosen as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week three times during the season, and he also earned the Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week once and even received honorable mention from Stats Perform for its FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week.
Zalc set a new standard for field goals in a season by a Big Green kicker, converting 17 in 21 attempts, breaking the previous mark of 15 that had stood for 33 years. His 14 field goals against conference opponents broke the Ivy League record as well. Three times he booted three field goals in a game, including the game-winner from 37 yards out in overtime at Penn to lift Dartmouth to a 23-20 victory in its Ivy League opener.
Zalc's 1.7 field goals per game are the third most in the FCS, and his 81.0 percent accuracy ranks 18th nationally as well. Combined with his 25-of-26 PAT conversions, Zalc led the Ivy League with 76 points and set the program's scoring record for a freshman, while his 7.6 points per game ranks 24th nationally.
