At that point, the Bears embarked on a 9-0 run, capped by back-to-back Victoria Vo aces, to gain a commanding 24-13 lead.
Piper Stevens ended the run with a kill, but Brown ended the set with Mariia Sidorova's winner.
Â
In the second set, it was another early Brown run that had Dartmouth behind the eight ball. The Big Green answered the Bears' 5-0 run by picking up six of seven points to tie the set at 15-15. Brown regained its momentum, but Dartmouth threatened by climbing within one (23-22) with the help of a Gibbs and
Ava Roberts block. A Gabby Derrick block helped Brown reset, gaining the crucial two-point lead, before a Stevens error gave the game to the visitors.
Â
Dartmouth had its first lead in any set (3-2) after
Bomi Ogunlari's early kill, but Brown quickly earned an insurmountable lead after claiming nine of the next 10 points. The lead stretched to double digits at 21-11 with a Widener kill before Kate Sheire's swing sealed the Bears' sweep.
