The Richards Group - Athletes of the Week - Minicozzi and Williams

Big Green youngsters are setting the future bar very high by establishing career bests on the hardwood early in their careers. Nina Minicozzi had a career-high 19 points in a win over Navy this past week. Second year player Jayden Williams lit up Leede Arena for two-straight games, hitting a career-high 28 points in a Granite State matchup with UNH.

Their efforts are rewarded by being named The Richards Group Athletes of the week.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Nina Minicozzi, Fy., Belmont, Mass., G, Women's Basketball

First year women's basketball athlete Nina Minicozzi scored a career-high 19 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, to help the Big Green complete a comeback win over Navy on Friday. She followed up that performance on Sunday at Merrimack by leading the team with 15 points as Dartmouth erased a 10-point halftime deficit to notch its second straight victory. The Big Green have back-to-back wins for the second time this season, and with a 4-4 record, have doubled their 2022-23 win total.

Jayden Williams, So., Windermere, Fla., F, Men's Basketball

Jayden Williams enjoyed a stellar week, capped off by being named the Ivy League Player of the Week. Williams began last week with a career-high 28 points in last Wednesday's 76-64 win over New Hampshire, scoring 20 of his points in the first half and finishing the day 8-for-10 from 3-point range. It was just one made three from tying the program record, tied for the fifth most makes in NCAA Division I men's basketball this season and the most makes by a Big Green player since Brendan Barry knocked down eight on Dec. 14, 2018 against Boston University. He also set career highs in rebounds (5), assists (4) and blocks (2) against the Wildcats. Williams went on to score 13 points on Saturday vs. Marist, posting back-to-back double-figure scoring efforts after two double-figure games the entirety of his rookie season.
