Big Green Golfers Proving to be the Best
Spring brings championship season to the Big Green. Both men's and women's golf team finished off the season with third place finishes overall in the Ivy Golf Championship. Sophomore Eli Kimche tied for fourth as an individual to help lead the men's squad. On the women's side senior Samantha Yao tied for fourth as well.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named The Richards Group Athletes of the week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Eli Kimche, So., Park City, Utah, Men's Golf
Eli Kimche closed out the 2022-23 season with a stellar performance at the Ivy League Championship event last weekend. The sophomore was instrumental in Dartmouth's third-place finish at the event.
Kimche tied for fourth place in a field of 33 competitors eligible for an individual championship. His performance tied for Dartmouth's best individual performance at the Ivy League Championship since 2016.
Samantha Yao, Sr., Berwyn, Pa., Women's Golf
Samantha Yao tied for fourth at the Ivy League Women's Golf Championship last weekend, becoming just the sixth Big Green women's golfer (and second senior) to earn a spot on the All-Ivy League First Team. She began the tournament with a 3-over 75 and was sitting in sixth place after carding a 5-over 77 in the second round. The co-captain came to play on the final day, tying for the low round in the 30-player field with a 1-over 73, moving up two spots in the standings in the process. It was her third top-10 finish in the last four tournaments of her career, and she ends her career with a 75.89 stroke average, the lowest in program history for anyone who has played at least 45 rounds.
