Five Male Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-District Honors

Members of Dartmouth men’s golf, men’s hockey, men’s lacrosse and skiing were named at-large All-District honorees
HANOVER, N.H. — The College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) today announced its Academic All-District Men's At-Large Teams. Dartmouth had five student-athletes selected for the honor — Mark Turner and Alex Gu of men's golf, Peter Lapina of men's lacrosse, Max Martin of alpine skiing and Tyler Campbell of men's hockey.
To be included, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale), have completed at least one full calendar year and reached sophomore athletic eligibility. The quintet will now go on the ballot for CSC Academic All-America consideration with the first-, second- and third-team honorees being announced on June 21.
Campbell, a senior from Winnipeg, Manitoba, is a psychology major with a 3.83 GPA. The two-time American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American Scholar played 28 games for the Big Green. He recorded a career-high nine points during his senior campaign, including the decisive goal in Dartmouth's 4-3 victory against Yale during the Ledyard Classic. Campbell finished the 2022-23 season with the team's best plus/minus and is a three-time ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team honoree.
Gu, a junior from Darien, Connecticut, is an economics major with a 3.61 GPA. He reached new heights during his junior campaign with the Big Green, which included his first all-conference postseason award. Gu finished ninth at the Ivy League Championship event, earning second-team recognition from the conference in the process. He was also honored with Dartmouth's Class of 1948 Scholar-Athlete Award, which is awarded "to one male and one female athlete of the junior class, who have combined outstanding performance in athletics and significant achievement in academics."
Lapina, a junior from Manhasset, New York, is a government major with a 3.88 GPA. The 2023 Academic All-Ivy honoree was a key contributor for the Big Green throughout the season. He appeared in all 12 games for Dartmouth, including a pair of starts at attack. Lapina closed the year with 12 points with three goals and nine assists, which included a stretch of five-straight games with a point.
Martin, a junior from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, is an economics major with a 3.76 GPA. He skied in all six carnivals for the Big Green, securing five top-10 finishes with one podium. Martin scored points for the Big Green in seven of the 12 races he competed in.
Turner, a senior from Gloucester, Massachusetts, is a government major with a 3.58 GPA. As a co-captain for the men's golf team, Turner established himself as a premier player in the Ivy League throughout a stellar senior campaign. He closed the season with seven top-25 finishes and claimed top-10 positions at Dartmouth's final three events of the season. Turner secured an eighth-place finish at the Ivy League Championship to earn second team All-Ivy honors. Turner was also named an Academic All-Ivy selection following a strong year on the course and in the classroom.
