
The Richards Group – Athletes of the Week – Maddie LaFata and Grayson Saunier

HANOVER, N.H. — Maddie LaFata and Grayson Saunier of football have been named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week following tremendous weekends which led to Big Green victories.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes – one male, one female – as Athletes of the Week.
Maddie LaFata, So., Fayetteville, Ark., Volleyball
Over seven sets on the weekend, LaFata averaged 3.29 kills per set (.489), four dig and a block for a total of 23.5 points. In Friday's sweep over Penn, LaFata had a career high 13 kills with zero attack errors (.722). She also notched Dartmouth's final four points, all straight kills for the sophomore, as the Big Green defeated the Quakers 3-1. In a close four-set match at Princeton, LaFata had ten kills with only one hitting error earning a .333 hitting efficiency.
Grayson Saunier, So., Lafayette, La., Football
In his first-career extended minutes, Saunier finished 20-of-34 for 276 yards with three touchdowns through the air. He also added 12 carries for 84 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Dartmouth came back from 23 points down (21 in the fourth quarter) to beat Yale, 44-43 in overtime, for a critical Ivy League victory. Saunier's 32-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter evened the score at 37. In the fourth quarter alone, he threw for 111 yards and rushed for 50 as the Big Green scored 21 straight points over the final 7:30 of regulation to force overtime. Saunier was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week.
