Kincade comes to Dartmouth with over 15 years of experience in college and professional athletics
HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth Athletics is proud to announce that Julia Kincade has joined the department as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance & Administration/CFO. Kincade brings a wealth of experience in collegiate athletics administration, with an extensive background in financial strategy, budgeting, and operational leadership, making her a key addition to Dartmouth Athletics' senior leadership team.
Kincade joins Dartmouth after a distinguished tenure with Brown University Athletics, where she most recently served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) since June of 2023. During her time at Brown, she played a pivotal role in managing the business operations for one of the Ivy League's largest athletics programs. Over the past three years, Kincade spearheaded numerous strategic initiatives within Brown's business office, including implementing zero-based budgeting, and the comprehensive oversight of financial planning, forecasting, and reporting. Her collaborative approach helped streamline financial processes across 34 varsity sports and additional recreational units, ensuring a transparent and efficient resource management system.
"First, I would like to thank Mike Harrity and Gregg DiNardo for extending this wonderful opportunity to be a part of the Dartmouth team," said Kincade. "Dartmouth, and Dartmouth Athletics, have always been a place that I hold great admiration for growing up in the state. The level of growth and potential, coupled with the campus support for athletics, is something I am beyond excited about and grateful to be a part of."
"New Hampshire is my home," Kincade continued. "Throughout my career progression, I have worked to this opportunity where I can now apply all of those skills back to a place, and a community, that means the world to me. I cannot wait to hit the ground running in the continual collaboration of building the best experience for all Dartmouth student-athletes, both as a Sport Administrator and a CFO."
In her new role at Dartmouth, Kincade will oversee all financial functions within the department, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and long-term fiscal planning. With collegiate athletics facing an era of significant change, Kincade's strategic leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the department's fiscal health and sustainability. She will work closely with coaches, administrators, and external partners to allocate resources efficiently and effectively, ensuring Dartmouth's student-athletes and programs have the necessary support to thrive.
"We are thrilled to welcome Julia Kincade to Dartmouth Athletics," said Gregg DiNardo, Deputy Athletics Director for Business Strategy and Operations. "Her depth of experience in financial management, and her innovative approach to budgeting and resource allocation, will be critical as we navigate the evolving landscape of college athletics. Julia's expertise will not only strengthen our financial operations but also enhance our ability to support the successes of our student-athletes on and off the field."
Throughout her career, Kincade has demonstrated a commitment to fiscal responsibility and operational excellence. At Brown, she was responsible for overseeing the processing and reporting of all financial transactions, developing and managing the annual operating budget, and compiling the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) and NCAA reports in partnership with a third-party audit firm. Her focus on transparency and precision in financial reporting earned her the respect of colleagues across the Ivy League and beyond.
Kincade's leadership extended beyond financial operations. She served as a sport administrator for multiple teams, including men's and women's swimming and diving, field hockey, men's and women's tennis, and sailing, providing administrative support and fostering a strong connection between the athletics department and student-athletes. Additionally, her involvement on Brown University's Title IX hearing panel demonstrated her commitment to equity and inclusion in collegiate athletics.
The Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance & Administration/CFO position is a vital role within the Dartmouth Athletics Department, especially in today's rapidly evolving athletic environment. The ongoing deregulation of collegiate sports has placed a heightened emphasis on sound financial management. Ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently is critical to maintaining Dartmouth's competitive edge while upholding the department's commitment to providing a first-class experience for its student-athletes. Kincade's experience with long-term budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting uniquely positions her to lead Dartmouth Athletics through this transformative period.
As a New Hampshire native, Kincade is thrilled to return to her home state with her husband Chad.
"Coming back to New Hampshire and joining Dartmouth feels like a homecoming for me," she shared. "I'm excited to work alongside an incredible team and help further Dartmouth's tradition of excellence. I look forward to contributing to the success of our student-athletes and ensuring that Dartmouth Athletics remains a leader in both athletic and academic achievement."
Kincade's local roots, combined with her impressive professional experience, make Julia a natural fit for Dartmouth and the broader Hanover community. As Kincade transitions into her new role, she will leverage her expertise to continue Dartmouth's legacy of athletic success, while supporting the holistic development of its student-athletes.
