HANOVER, N.H. — Running back Q Jones of the Dartmouth football team was recognized on Monday as the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week, following a career performance in Saturday's win at Columbia. Jones is the Big Green's second Ivy offense honoree in the last three weeks, following quarterback Grayson Saunier at Yale.
The honor comes one day after Jones was named the Division I recipient of this week's New England Football Writers Association Gold Helmet Award. Jones rushed for a career high 182 yards against the Lions, 123 of which came in the third quarter to help the Big Green create separation.
Jones' 182 yards marked the most by a Dartmouth player since Jared Gerbino had 183 on Oct. 27, 2018 against Harvard. Jones did them on 19 carries (9.6 average), while adding a touchdown. On the Big Green's first drive of the third quarter, Jones had rushes of 27, six, one and 35 yards, finding the end zone to give Dartmouth a 17-0 lead with 10:56 on the clock. On the first play of the Big Green's ensuing drive, Jones scampered for 39 yards.
Saturday's performance was Jones' fourth-career 100-yard rushing game and second this season. He is up to 556 yards on 108 carries (5.1 average), with three touchdowns, in 2024.
Also recognized among the honorable mentions were Ejike Adele, who had a career game with career highs in tackles (9), tackles-for-loss (3.5) and sacks (2) along with Davis Golick, who finished with three punts inside the 20-yard line.
Dartmouth will return home on Saturday to host Harvard at 1:30 p.m. It's also Homecoming and Healthcare Appreciation Day. Tickets can be purchased HERE. Questions can be directed to the Athletics Sales Office at athletics.sales@dartmouth.edu or by calling (603) 646-2466.
