HANOVER, N.H. — Samantha Takacs of equestrian and Jackson Proctor of football have been named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week following successful weekends in leading their teams to victory.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes – one male, one female – as Athletes of the Week.
Samantha Takacs, So., Lebanon, N.J., Equestrian
Takacs was named Most Outstanding Player in both the flat and over fences in the Big Green's 8-2 win over No. 5 Sewanee on Sunday. She also posted 90-point rounds in both, winning her matchups 94-90 and 90-35. As a team, the Big Green swept the fences portion to roll to victory.
Jackson Proctor, Sr., Kent, Wash., Football
Proctor impressed in Saturday's 20-17 Ivy League opening win over Penn. The quarterback was 24-for-31 for 232 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. Perhaps most importantly, he orchestrated a 20-play, 74-yard drive late in the fourth quarter that took 10:30 of gametime and left Penn with just 11 seconds from its own 1-yard line.
