Zalc Named Special Teams Player of the Week After Record Kick

HANOVER, N.H. — On Monday, Dartmouth football kicker Owen Zalc was named Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week for the third time this season following a record-breaking day against Harvard Saturday. Zalc was 2-for-2 on field goals and 3-for-3 on extra points, highlighted by a program-record 54-yard field goal in the second quarter.

That field goal broke the previous Dartmouth football record of 52 yards, while also tying the Ivy League mark. It pulled the Big Green within 10-6 with 8:01 left in the second quarter. Earlier in the quarter, Zalc knocked through a 37-yard field goal. He is now 12-for-15 on field goals on the season, including two of 50+ yards.

Monday marked Zalc's seventh-career Ivy League weekly award and fourth special teams honor; he was also named Rookie of the Week three last season. It's the Big Green's fourth Ivy special teams weekly award of the season out of seven weeks.

Dartmouth will hit the road for the next two weekends, beginning with a showdown at Princeton on Friday. Opening kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on ESPNU. After a matchup at Cornell, the Big Green return home for their season finale on Saturday, Nov. 23 to host Brown at 12 p.m. on Senior Day and Youth Football Day.
